Dal Makhani Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup black urad dal
1/4 cup rajma chitra
1 onion, finely chopped
2 tomatoes, finely chopped
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1 green chili, slit
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1/2 tsp garam masala powder
Salt to taste
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp cream
Instructions:
Rinse the black urad dal and rajma chitra under water several times until the water runs clear. Soak them together for at least 6 hours.
Drain the water and transfer the soaked dal and rajma to a pressure cooker. Add enough water to cover the dal and rajma by about an inch.
Pressure cook on medium heat for about 20 minutes or until the dal and rajma are soft and tender.
In a separate pan, heat butter over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
Add ginger-garlic paste and green chili. Sauté for another minute.
Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Mix well.
Add the cooked dal and rajma along with any remaining water from the pressure cooker to the pan. Mix well.
Cook on low heat for about 10 minutes or until the dal makhani thickens.
Add cream and mix well.
Serve hot with rice, naan, or roti.
